about the artist:
George Kettlewell (1945 - present) was born in Washington, DC and received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Kent State University. while working toward his MFA, he and his partner, Kersti Hamman, traveled to the West Coast. they arrived in Portland, OR in 1974, and Cannon Beach in 1976.
their friend encouraged them to rent a vacant storefront just west of North Hemlock and Second Street in Cannon Beach. not sure how to make use of it, they settled on becoming potters and opened Ocean Pottery in 1976. after 11 years, Ocean Pottery closed because George wanted to return to painting.
his paintings are shown at many local & regional galleries, and are in the City of Cannon Beach permanent collection.
George continues to paint at his residence in Cannon Beach to this day.
